The NJC Executive Committee agreed at its meeting on December 16, 2009 to the following as it pertains to Accommodations under the Government Travel Directive during the 2010 Vancouver Olympic/Paralympics Games.
The Executive Committee recognizes that the 2010 Vancouver Olympic/Paralympics Games will impact the single room accommodation standard cited in the National Joint Council Travel Directive (effective April 1, 2008) for the period January 1, 2010 to March 31, 2010, due to the limited availability of rooms.
Since the accommodation standard will not be achievable in all circumstances, the NJC Executive Committee supports employees volunteering to share accommodation that permits double occupancy, however individual employee needs must also be considered, on a case by case basis.
