The Occupational Health and Safety Committee reviews and makes recommendations on present and proposed Public Service policies and standards on occupational safety and health and other directly related subjects.
This Committee reviews the Uniforms Directive, the Directive on First Aid to the General Public - Allowance for Employees and the Occupational Health and Safety Directive and hears final level grievances on these authorities, when required by the Executive Committee.

Quarterly Report to the National Joint Council (June 2026)
Regular Activities
- The Committee has met two (2) times since the last Council meeting;
- The Committee wishes to note the departure of a Bargaining Agent Side representative, Dejan Toncic from the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) and to thank them for their contributions to the Committee;
- The Committee welcomed a new Bargaining Agent Side representative, Crystal Stewart, from PIPSC;
- The Committee conducted a review of their communiqués on the NJC website and archived older communiqués that are no longer relevant. This exercise ensures relevant information is easily and clearly accessible to users;
- The Committee was consulted for suggestions on topics and speakers for the NJC 2026 Seminar;
- The Committee discussed potential collaboration opportunities with the Service-Wide Committee on Occupational Health and Safety (SWOHS). As a result, OHS Committee members were invited to join the SWOHS Working Group on Harassment and Violence Prevention Tools (HVPT).
