The grievors sought to be reimbursed the deductible on their insurance for all the incidents of theft in their apartments.

Three of the grievors had been the victim of five separate thefts and in each instance their insurance company has reimbursed them only for stolen goods whose value exceeded $250. The fourth grievor was the victim of two thefts and had to assume responsibility for this deductible in each instance.

The Administrative Committee considered and agreed with the report of the Rental of Government Housing Committee in that the grievors were treated within the intent of the policy since the Agreement in Appendix G places on the occupant full responsibility for damage to or loss of personal effects. The Administrative Committee further agreed with the report in that there was no authority in the Policy that would permit reimbursement of the deductibles assumed by these employees on their insurance in the case of thefts that occur while they are occupying Crown-owned accommodation.

The grievances were denied.
