The Executive Committee of the National Joint Council (NJC) is pleased to announce that it recently accepted the report of the Foreign Service Directives Committee in regard to the Cyclical Review of the Foreign Service Directives.
Characterized as the most fundamental review of the Directives ever, the Employer and Bargaining Agents, under the auspices of the NJC, have considered several hundred proposals from both sides, some of which arose from the Campbell Commission. Many other proposals reflect issues which have accumulated since the last review in 1993.
As a result of the parties' deliberations, the following revised Directives will come into effect on June 1, 2001:
FSD 1, 2, 3, 10, 15, 16, 17, 25, 30, 32, 39, 41, 42, 45, 46, 50, 54, 55, 56, 58, 69 and 70.
It is expected that further revisions to other Foreign Service Directives will be introduced later this year, including consequential editorial changes.
A Treasury Board "Policy Notice" will be issued to all missions in order to provide details on all of the changes, including provisions for grandfathering, where applicable.
